Lebanon is centrally located within the heart of Oregon in Willamette Valley and is within an hour or two drive of the Cascade Mountains and HooDoo Ski Resort, the breathtaking Oregon Coast, Portland to the north, and Eugene to the south. The South Santiam River flows through town, and is excellent for fishing, swimming, and floating down the river in our warm summer months.
We are just a short drive off of Interstate 5, but far enough away where you feel as though you are in a small country town where people still gather to visit for local events on Main Street and stop to visit their neighbors. Children play outside, hometown football games, the Willamette Speedway, the Strawberry Festival, and the Farmer's Market still gather everyone together.
Lebanon was founded in 1859 by pioneers as an important trade route and stop on the Oregon Trail. We are proud of our rich history, but now Lebanon also has a strong vision for the future, Lebanon has excellent medical facilities, top-rated schools, public transportation, and a community college program. We are just a short drive from OSU in Corvallis, and UofO in Eugene. There are hiking trails, (many are wheelchair accessible), rafting, fishing, and birdwatching in the Santiam River, which flows on the East end of town, Cheadle Lake, or Foster Lake, which is just a short drive down HWY 20. We have breweries, fantastic restaurants, shopping, and music festivals. The Willamette Valley has fertile soil, enabling world-class wineries, wildlife refuges, and many private farms and ranches. There are cultural events, hiking, and biking trails, you can even take a ride on Lebanon's Excursion Train!
