The towering Cascade Mountains to the west offer fantastic winter recreation. People travel from all over Oregon to the area to ski and snowboard at Mt. Bachelor, and the Willamette Pass, both are within an hour’s drive from here!  

The area is considered a high desert, and it does get cold here in the winter, but the area receives nearly 300 days of sunshine per year! There are some late spring frosts, but the summers are warm and pleasant.
