It would just be a short walk down to the Williamson River, only about 1/2 mile! When we were here the river was so clear you could see the rock formations deep underwater and the fish swimming by! The river is not just popular for fishing, it is also great for swimming, tubing, or just relaxing on the banks and watching the water flow peacefully by!
The area is surrounded by Federal land. If you love to explore there are many hiking trails and Forest Service roads throughout the millions of acres of the nearby Freemont-Winema and Deschutes National Forests.
The city of Chiloquin is about two miles away, and is the nearest town. There is a medical clinic, a hardware store, (where we found the employees to be extremely helpful and friendly), churches, a grocery store, a school, park, and the majestic Williamson River flowing through it. It's a good place to grab a few supplies. If you need to shop where there are larger box stores or visit a hospital, Klamath Falls is just about 30 miles away.
This property sits at the foothills of the majestic Cascade Mountains and offers unparalleled outdoor recreation! For downhill skiing and snowboarding, the Willamette Pass is about 75 miles west, or you could travel up to Bend, Oregon, and the Mt. Bachelor Resort, which is about 110 miles. There are many nearby trails for snowmobiling, Nordic skiing, sledding and tubing.
Agency Lake is about 6 miles away. This boat launching dock is at the public, Henzel Park. The lake is actually the northernmost part of the Upper Klamath Lake, which has the largest surface area of any lake in Oregon.
Crater Lake National Park is about 30 miles northwest of the property. At 1,949 feet, Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the Nation. It's crystal clear waters are fed by rain and snowmelt. There are many places to hike and camp in the park, and the views are just spectacular! Be sure and stop on the way up to the park to the right, just before you get there, and check out the fossilized steam vents!
This area is on the Pacific Flyway where more than 400 species of migratory birds pass through, including bald eagles, sandhill cranes, songbirds, and pelicans! In the winter months of November through February, hundreds of bald eagles winter over here. It is the largest wintering congregation of bald eagles in the lower 48 states.
